Can You Buy One AirPod? Yes — Replacement Guide
Yes. If you lose or damage one AirPod, you can replace that single earbud instead of buying a complete new set. The important part is choosing the correct generation, side and model number so the replacement can work with your existing AirPod and charging case.
First, try to find the missing AirPod
Before ordering a replacement, open the Find My app and select your AirPods. Depending on the model and its last connection, you may be able to view its current or last known location, play a sound or use nearby finding. Apple also provides access through iCloud Find Devices.
When replacing one AirPod makes sense
A single replacement is usually the sensible choice when:
- you have lost only the left or right AirPod;
- one AirPod is damaged but the other AirPod and case still work well;
- you know the exact generation and model number you need; and
- the cost of replacing one part is comfortably below the cost of a complete new set.
When a complete new pair may be better
Replacing one part is not always the best answer. A complete new pair may make more sense if both earbuds have weak batteries, the charging case is also faulty, several parts need replacing, or the total replacement cost is close to the price of a newer complete set.
Check that the AirPod is really faulty
If one side has stopped working, charge both AirPods in the case and check that each one is charging. Cleaning the charging contact, reconnecting the AirPods or resetting them may solve the problem. If the issue continues, use our Product Issue Support before buying another part.
Find the correct generation and model number
AirPods from different generations can look very similar, but appearance alone is not a safe way to choose a replacement. The model number begins with the letter A and is printed on the underside of each AirPod. You can also find model information in the Bluetooth settings of a paired iPhone or iPad.

Left and right AirPods are different parts. Check which side you still have and which side is missing before ordering. Then match the generation and model number shown in the Model Finder.
